Pub crawl & Irish countryside

so!! last night we went to our Welcome dinner at ThunderRoad Cafe which is comparable to TGIF... it was...alright... they served us merang form dessert and we all thought it was ice cream with whip cream the first bite and it was HARD AND CRUNCHY. very strange..and afterwards we went on a pub crawl with a Hostel Backpackers group. SOOO COOL. our guide was great! we went to 4 pubs and ended at a "nightclub" which in my view was more like a bar with upbeat music haha. at each pub we were offered a free shot or a half pint of Guiness. we had a shot called a mickey finn, like apple pucker. one cowboy shot that was caramel and the last tasted like robotussin. our guide suggested we all try Whiskey with Red Lemonade. which was FANTASTIC. red lemonade and white lemonade are banned in Europe but Irleland bends the rules. its banned because of the crap they have in it but its comparable to pop in the States.. they are way more conscious of things over here.. anway.. we went to the bar from PS I Love You!!!!!!!they played the Molly Malone song and a song where the entire bar clapped at certain points.. the last pub had an irishman singing American music, they had dollars stapled all over the bar and written on by American visitors! its really interesting because you dont tip a bartender in Ireland.. anyway, i met people from South Africa, Australia, Texas, Ireland,Germany,(Pedro, a mexican man studying engineering in Germany) and Washington! all people backpacking! at the last bar they were playing 50s music and crazy throwbacks like Xtina -Dirty.. there was even a red head who river danced!!!!! at the end we were swing dancing with some Croations from our tour.. in the end it was a great night

so this morning we went to GlendaLough, an Irish countryside.. it was BEAUTIFUL. the photos will do more justice.. it was a monastic village with a cemetery and lake!! it was over 1000 years old... the stones were cut way back and used to build local villagers house when the church was run down. so people have slabs of stone with old gaelic graffiti a part of their home ! how crazy ! we also visited a weaving company.. they hand weave and also go by machines operated by people. it was fantastic.. i cant really explain how cool it was.. so many different types of fabrics.. cotton wool.. there was more i cant remember right this second,. there were sheep all over the mountain side! the roads remind me of West Virgina, in that they are windy and you could end up over the mountain but ever prettier and more country-e

on a random note, Guiness use to be on the board for blood donation..so when you would donate blood you coukd have coffe, tea and biscuits or a pint of Guiness - how crazyyyy can you imagine!!!?

we are getting up tomorrow and leaving at 630 for the ferry to Wales near manchester...

  1. I should have given my 4 gallons of blood over there!! Way more fun than in the states. Maybe if the red cross gave guineas out there wouldn't be such a shortage all the time! Lol.
On a more serious note... I love your posts. It sounds so wonderful. I wish I could go there some time. Take lots of pictures and keep writing stuff down. I want to hear every detail when you return home.
Love and miss you tons! Keep having a great time, but be safe.

  2. Haha!!! Well there you go Moma!!! I know, can you imagine after giving blood and feeling woosy-drinking a pint of Guinness! Did you know that 80% of New Yorkers aren't organ donors.. I have a lot of kids with facts on my trip..haha

Thanks mom, I know.. each day is getting better. I am so happy with this trip.. I want to come back soon.. I'm actually hoping they offer a credit for seats on the way home, so I can get a plane voucher.. everyone agreed I should have taken it haha oh well.. love you and miss you as well!

  3. Nice! You must have had an amazing and unforgettable adventure. :D I was entertained by the part where you went to the bar. Upon reading, I could really feel your delight and satisfaction with the drinks, the people, the entertainers, and the whole place. You definitely came to the perfect nightclub! I’m glad you ended your night well.
